Designing a court in Art City
A court is one of the largest painted surfaces most people will ever own, and in Springville it deserves some thought. The colors you choose shape how the court looks from the house, how it plays, and how well players can see the ball.
Start with contrast. The playing area and the border around it are usually two different colors, and the lines need to stand out against both. Classic pairs work because they contrast: a blue court inside a green border, for instance, with white lines. A pickleball kitchen or a basketball key in a third color adds definition without clutter.
Then think about the ball. A yellow tennis ball or pickleball is easiest to track against a darker blue or green, and a basketball shows up well on most court colors. Very pale or very busy schemes can make the ball harder to follow.
