Fitting a court into a Saratoga Springs yard
Not every court needs to be full size. In a compact yard, the trick is choosing the court that fits the space and the way your family plays, rather than squeezing in something too big.
A shooting pad is the smallest option: a slab in front of a single hoop, big enough for shooting and one-on-one. A basketball half court goes a step further, with a key and room to play. A single pickleball court, with lines of 20 by 44 feet, gives adults a real game and fits more Saratoga Springs yards than people expect.
Side yards are worth a look too. A long, narrow strip beside the house can sometimes hold a shooting lane or a practice slab that the backyard can't. We measure every part of the lot at the estimate, not just the obvious spot.
In a newer neighborhood, homes are close, so water needs a plan. The base is excavated and graded so runoff goes to your own drainage, not toward the house or over the fence, and the post-tension slab is poured to carry it off cleanly. Sports Master acrylic sand-mix goes on top in your colors.
Breezes off the lake can push a ball around, so fencing and windscreens are worth considering, especially on a court near the lot line. Windscreens can carry a logo or family name and add some privacy from the yard next door.
A compact court still deserves the extras. Dominator LED lights, a rebounder, or a portable pickleball net that comes down when the slab is needed for something else all make a small court work harder.
