Millcreek only became a city in 2016, but its neighborhoods were settled long before, and most homes sit within easy earshot of the next one. That makes a backyard court a neighborhood decision as much as a personal one.
Pickleball is the sport that usually comes up when people talk about noise. The pop of a paddle on the ball carries, so where the court sits matters: placing it away from the neighbors' bedrooms and patios, and closer to your own house, keeps most of the sound on your side.
Light is the other half. Dominator LED lights can be aimed onto the court rather than across the fence, and a timer turns them off at whatever hour you choose. If your street has quiet hours, set the timer to match.
Fencing keeps balls in your yard and out of theirs, and windscreens on the fence give everyone some privacy while cutting the wind. Windscreens can carry your family name or a simple design, so the side your neighbors see looks finished.
A quick word with the neighbors before the work starts helps, too. Tell them what is being built and when the crew will be there, and most of the questions answer themselves.
None of this changes how the court is built. The base is excavated and graded so runoff drains away from both your house and the neighbor's, a post-tension slab is poured, and Sports Master acrylic sand-mix goes on in your colors.
