Custom Court Builders in Payson, UT

Payson sits at the south end of Utah County, under Mount Nebo and the start of the Nebo Loop. Many lots here are irrigated, and a court has to be planned around where that water goes.

Keeping irrigation water off a Payson court

In much of Payson, yards are watered with secondary irrigation, and some larger lots have ditches or flood-irrigated ground nearby. Water is what wears a court out fastest, so in Payson the first question is where the yard's water goes.

Sprinklers are the everyday issue. Heads that throw water onto the court leave mineral spots, keep the surface damp and speed up wear, so they should be moved or adjusted before the court is built, and set to water the lawn, not the slab.

Flood irrigation and ditches are the bigger one. A court should sit higher than the water around it, on a base excavated, compacted and graded so the slab sheds water and nothing flows onto it. If the yard is flooded on a schedule, the court is placed and graded with that in mind.

A court also changes how the yard drains. Water that used to soak into the lawn where the slab now sits will run off its edge instead, so the plan includes where that runoff goes.

Former farm ground can need extra work under the surface. Rich topsoil is great for crops but too soft to carry a slab, so it is removed and replaced with a compacted base. Then the post-tension slab is poured, with its steel cables tensioned to hold the concrete together through the freeze.

With the ground sorted, the court is surfaced in Sports Master acrylic sand-mix in your colors, lined for pickleball, basketball, tennis or several sports, and finished with hoops, nets, fencing and Dominator LED lights as you choose.

Payson is about 10 miles from our Northern Utah crew's base in Mapleton, and we build in Spanish Fork and Springville too. Estimates are free; bring your watering schedule.

Supreme Custom Courts, and specifically Ola, we're wonderful. I called Supreme with what turned out to be a simple question on how to "fix" something on our Dominator hoop. About 10 minutes later Ola was at our house and two minutes later the problem was "fixed."

Questions

Asked in Payson

Will sprinklers hurt the court?

Daily spray leaves mineral spots and speeds wear. Adjust or move the heads so they water the lawn, not the slab.

We flood irrigate. Can we still have a court?

Yes. The court is set higher than the water around it and graded so nothing flows onto it.

Why does topsoil have to come out?

Rich soil is too soft to carry a slab. It is replaced with a compacted base before the concrete is poured.

Where does water from the slab go?

Off one edge, to a spot planned for it, so it doesn't pool against the court or the house.
