Custom Court Builders in Orem, UT

Orem calls itself Family City USA, and a backyard court is about as family as a yard gets. We build new courts and bring tired ones back to life in Orem, made to come through Utah County winters.

A court in Orem has to survive the winter

The hardest thing a court in Orem faces is not summer. It is the stretch from November to March, when snow melts in the afternoon and the water freezes again at night. Water that gets into a crack expands when it freezes and pries the crack wider, so a court that holds water on its surface ages fast here.

That is why we spend so much of every job on what you will never see. We assess the yard, excavate, and grade the base with a slope that sends snowmelt and sprinkler water off the court instead of letting it sit. Then we pour a post-tension slab: steel cables run through the concrete and are pulled tight after it cures, keeping the slab squeezed together so hairline cracks stay closed through the freeze.

The surface is Sports Master acrylic sand-mix in the colors you choose, with regulation lines for the games your family plays. A basketball half court with pickleball lines painted over it is one way to fit two games on one slab, and a full multi-sport court can carry three or four. Custom colors and a logo, like your family name or a school's colors, make it yours.

A few Orem-specific things are worth planning for. Lawn sprinklers should point away from the court, because a daily spray wears and stains the surface. Big trees near the slab drop leaves and can send roots under it, so where the court sits matters. And it is dark by about 5 in December, so Dominator LED lights on a timer turn the early evenings of fall and spring into more time on the court.

Our Northern Utah crew is based in Mapleton, so Orem is close to home for us. If you already have a court that has cracked or faded, we repair the cracks and resurface it rather than starting over. Estimates are free.

Supreme Custom Courts, and specifically Ola, we're wonderful. I called Supreme with what turned out to be a simple question on how to "fix" something on our Dominator hoop. About 10 minutes later Ola was at our house and two minutes later the problem was "fixed."

Questions

Asked in Orem

Will a new court crack after an Orem winter?

Concrete can always move, but we build to keep cracks small and closed: a graded base that drains, and a post-tension slab whose cables hold the concrete together through freeze and thaw.

Can we shovel snow off the court?

Yes. Use a plastic shovel, since a metal blade can scrape the acrylic, and leave out salt and ice melt. Or let the sun clear it; the slope carries the meltwater off.

Which crew works in Orem?

Our Northern Utah crew, based in Mapleton. They also build in Provo, Pleasant Grove, American Fork and Springville.

Can a basketball court and a pickleball court share one slab?

Yes. We paint regulation lines for both in contrasting colors, and the net goes up where you want it.

Our court is cracked and faded. Do we need a new one?

Often not. We repair the cracks, apply fresh Sports Master acrylic in new colors or the ones you had, and repaint the lines.
