Plan the court first in a new Herriman yard
A brand-new backyard is the easiest place to build a court. There is no lawn to tear up, no sprinkler lines to reroute and no finished fence blocking the way, so the excavation and the concrete can reach the spot without working around anything.
That is why the order matters. If the court goes in before the landscaping, the rest of the yard can be designed around it: the patio that looks onto it, the path from the back door, the planting beds that keep mud off the surface. Done the other way around, part of a new lawn usually gets dug up to make room.
Think about power early, too. Dominator LED lights need electricity at the court, and running it before the sod and the concrete go in is far simpler than trenching through a finished yard later. Even if lights are a next-year idea, planning their path now saves work.
New subdivisions bring their own soil story. Ground that was graded for the house may have loose fill in places, so the site assessment checks what is under the court before anything is poured. Then we excavate, compact and grade the base to drain, pour a post-tension slab, and lay Sports Master acrylic sand-mix in your colors.
Choose the sports with the years ahead in mind. Young kids may start with a low hoop and simple games, then grow into pickleball and full-height basketball. An adjustable hoop and lines for two sports let the court keep up with them.

Should the court go in before or after landscaping?
Before, if you can. The crew and the concrete reach the spot easily, and the rest of the yard can be designed around the court.
We might want lights later. What should we do now?
Plan the path for power to the court before the sod and concrete go in. Adding Dominator LED lights later is then much simpler.
Is the ground in a new subdivision ready for a court?
Not always. Ground graded for the house can hold loose fill, so the site assessment checks it before the base is excavated and compacted.
Can the court grow with our kids?
Yes. An adjustable hoop moves up as they grow, and lines for pickleball and basketball give the slab a second life as interests change.
