Kids' tennis lines on an Orem family court
Young children rarely start on a full-size tennis court. Youth programs teach the game on shorter courts, about 36 or 60 feet long, with lower-bouncing balls, so a small player can actually rally. On an Orem backyard court, those youth lines can be painted in a light color inside the regular tennis lines, where they stay out of the way once the kids move up.
The natural time to add them is a resurfacing. We clean the court, repair the cracks and fill the low spots, then apply acrylic resurfacer and new color coats. The regulation tennis lines go on in white, and the youth lines in a softer color so nobody confuses the two. Pickleball lines can be added the same way.
A few other family touches fit in at the same time: a courtside bench for whoever is waiting a turn, a ball rebounder for practice, and windscreens with your family name on the fence. Utah County winters still do their work on any court, so cracks are sealed before the new color goes on.

What are youth tennis lines?
Shorter courts inside the full court, used to teach young players: one about 36 feet long and one about 60 feet long. They are painted in a light color so the regular lines stay clear.
Can the youth lines be taken off later?
They are painted in, so they stay until the next resurfacing, when you can leave them off. Painted in a soft color, they are easy to ignore once the kids have moved up.
Can one Orem court carry tennis, youth and pickleball lines?
Yes, if the colors are planned so each set reads clearly. We work out the layout with you before painting so nobody is guessing which line counts.
Should we fix the cracks now or wait for the full resurfacing?
If the court is otherwise due, do both at once: crack repair is the first step of the resurfacing. If it is not, filling them now keeps winter water out until it is.
