Pickleball Court Installation in Herriman, UT

In a new Herriman yard, the sprinklers, the sod and the court often go in around the same time. Getting them to work together is what keeps the court dry and the lawn green.

A Herriman pickleball court and a new lawn

Herriman has filled with new homes, and many of their backyards are going in now: new sod, new trees, new sprinkler lines. A pickleball court fits that picture well, but it should not be an afterthought, because water and concrete need to be planned together.

Sprinkler heads that spray onto a court leave it wet just when you want to play. When we walk a Herriman yard we look at where the irrigation runs and how the lot drains, then excavate and grade the pad so the finished court sheds water toward the lawn edge rather than toward the house.

The slab is post-tension concrete. Its steel cables are tensioned after the concrete cures, which keeps fine cracks from spreading. Over it goes Sports Master acrylic sand-mix, with regulation pickleball lines: a 20 by 44 foot court and a 7-foot kitchen each side of the net. If you want a permanent net, its sleeves are set in the slab, so decide early.

Lights, fencing and a courtside bench all go more smoothly before the landscaping is finished. Ask for a free estimate; Herriman sits roughly 36 miles from the Mapleton base where our Northern Utah crew starts its day.

Supreme Custom Courts, and specifically Ola, we're wonderful. I called Supreme with what turned out to be a simple question on how to "fix" something on our Dominator hoop. About 10 minutes later Ola was at our house and two minutes later the problem was "fixed."

Questions

Asked in Herriman

Should we build the court before or after the landscaping?

Before, or at the same time. It is easier to plan sprinkler lines, drainage, power for lights and the fence line while the yard is still open.

Will sprinklers be a problem next to the court?

Spray across a court mostly means a wet surface when you want to play. We look at where your heads sit and plan the court so the lawn can be watered without soaking it.

When do the net posts need to be decided?

Before the pour. A permanent net sits on sleeve-set posts, and the sleeves go into the slab, so we place them as the concrete goes in.

Is Herriman in your service area?

Yes. Our Northern Utah crew, based in Mapleton about 36 miles away, builds courts across the southwest valley, including Riverton, South Jordan and West Jordan.
