Resurfacing a Millcreek court with neighbors close by
Millcreek is a city of close neighbors, from the streets under Mount Olympus to the ones along Millcreek Canyon Road, and a backyard tennis court here usually sits within sight of two or three other yards. That matters most during a resurfacing, because new acrylic has to stay dry, clean and untouched while it cures.
The work goes in steps. We clean the old surface, repair the cracks, fill the low spots, and then apply acrylic resurfacer, color coats and new lines, letting each layer dry before the next. While that is happening, a neighbor's sprinkler that drifts over the fence or a dog that wanders through can leave marks that have to be redone.
So we suggest a word over the fence before we start. Let the neighbors know the dates, ask them to aim or pause any sprinkler that reaches the court, and keep gates closed until we say the surface is ready. It is a small favor to ask, and it saves going back over finished work.
If you are adding pickleball lines, this is when they go on, in a color of your choice. Estimates are free, and our Northern Utah crew makes the drive up from its Mapleton base, roughly 42 miles south.

Questions
Asked in Millcreek
How long does our Millcreek court need to stay off limits?
Until the last coat has cured, which depends on the temperature and the weather. We will tell you when it is ready for play. Until then, keep people, pets and sprinklers off it.
Can a neighbor's sprinkler really hurt fresh coats?
Yes, if it reaches the court before the coating has cured. Water spots and runs can mark the new surface and may need another pass. Asking for the heads to be aimed away, or paused, avoids that.
Which colors look good from the yards next door?
Softer greens or blues with a matching border sit quietly in a yard and still show the lines clearly. Picture each one against your own fences and trees before you choose.
Do the pickleball lines go on during the resurfacing?
Yes. They are painted after the color coats, in a shade that stands apart from the tennis lines, so either game can be played on the same Millcreek court.
