Court Resurfacing in Logan, UT

Logan's cold winters open cracks, and its building season is short. A resurface in the warm months repairs the frost damage and lays new acrylic before Cache Valley freezes again.

Racing the Cache Valley calendar on a Logan resurface

Cache Valley winters are long and cold, and a court in Logan spends months freezing at night and thawing by day. Each cycle pushes water a little deeper into hairline cracks and pries them wider. By spring, a court that looked fine in October can have open cracks, lifted edges and new low spots where the ground beneath has heaved and settled.

Fixing that has to happen in the warm part of the year. Acrylic coatings need dry pavement and mild temperatures to cure, and Logan's window for that is shorter than it is down south. Logan is also roughly 113 miles from Mapleton, where our Northern Utah crew is based, so we plan each job carefully to make the most of good weather.

The work itself: a thorough clean, cracks cleaned out and filled, low spots leveled, then layers of Sports Master acrylic with sand for traction, and new lines measured to regulation. Colors can change, and Dominator LED lights help stretch the short fall evenings.

If a slab has heaved badly over the winters, we will tell you whether a resurface will last or whether it needs more. The estimate is free, and asking early in the year makes it easier to fit your court into the summer.

Supreme Custom Courts, and specifically Ola, we're wonderful. I called Supreme with what turned out to be a simple question on how to "fix" something on our Dominator hoop. About 10 minutes later Ola was at our house and two minutes later the problem was "fixed."

Questions

Asked in Logan

Why do Logan courts crack so much?

Long, cold winters mean many freeze and thaw cycles. Water in small cracks freezes and expands each time, widening them. Repairing cracks before they grow keeps the damage small.

When can you resurface a court in Logan?

In the warm, dry months, when the coatings can cure properly. That window is shorter in Cache Valley than farther south, so it helps to ask early.

Do you really come all the way to Logan?

Yes. It is a long drive, roughly 113 miles up from Mapleton, so Logan resurfacing jobs are planned well ahead and each trip is made to count.

Can lights help in a short season?

They can. Dominator LED court lights let you keep playing after the early sunsets of spring and fall, which adds real hours to a Logan court's year.
