Bringing back a Salt Lake City court that's seen decades
Some Salt Lake City homes came with a court already in the yard, poured by an owner two or three sales ago. Others have a basketball slab the kids wore smooth. Either way, the concrete is often still sound. What has failed is the surface on top: color bleached to gray, lines you can barely follow, and cracks that open a little wider every winter.
That is the job resurfacing does. We scrub the old surface clean, open up and fill the cracks, and patch the low spots where water sits after a storm. Then new coats of Sports Master acrylic sand-mix go down, and the lines are painted sharp again. The texture comes back too, so shoes grip and the ball bounces true.
City lots add their own wear. Big shade trees drop leaves and seeds that stain a surface if they sit, and sprinklers set for the lawn soak the court edge every evening. We point those out at the estimate, because a fresh surface lasts longer when the water and the litter stay off it.
If the slab itself has heaved or split through, a new coat will not hide it for long, and we will say so before you spend anything. For Salt Lake City jobs, our Northern Utah crew makes the drive up from Mapleton, roughly 47 miles, and it recoats courts in Millcreek and Murray too. Estimates are free.

Questions
Asked in Salt Lake City
Is my old Salt Lake City court worth resurfacing?
Usually, if the slab underneath is solid. Faded color, blurry lines and hairline cracks are surface problems. Wide cracks that reopen every year, or sections that have lifted, point to the slab, and we will tell you that at the estimate.
Can you resurface a court someone else built?
Yes. It doesn't matter who poured it. We look at the slab, the drainage and the old coating first, then plan the repairs and the new coats around what we find.
What do leaves and sprinklers do to a court?
Leaves and seeds left on a damp surface leave stains, and a sprinkler that hits the same edge every night keeps it wet and wears the coating there first. Moving a sprinkler head and a quick sweep now and then help a resurfaced court last.
