When an Ogden court starts to peel and blister
Ogden has plenty of courts with some age on them, behind homes on the east bench and in the older neighborhoods closer to downtown. On those courts the color is not always the first thing to go. Sometimes the coating itself lets go: bubbles that pop underfoot, blisters that tear open, or whole patches peeling up like old paint on a fence.
That usually means the coating has lost its grip on what is underneath, often because moisture has worked under it or because it was put over a dirty or failing layer years ago. Coating over it again would only peel along with it. So an Ogden resurface starts by removing everything loose, down to a sound surface.
Next come the repairs: cracks cleaned out and filled, low spots built up so water drains instead of sitting under the new coats. Then the court is cleaned again, and Sports Master acrylic goes on in layers with sand for traction. Fresh lines finish it, for whatever games you play now.
If water keeps getting under the court, we will point out where it is coming from. Ogden is roughly 79 miles north of Mapleton, the base of our Northern Utah crew, which also works on courts in Layton and Kaysville.

Questions
Asked in Ogden
Why is the coating on our Ogden court bubbling?
Bubbles and blisters usually mean the coating has lost its grip, often from moisture underneath or an old layer that wasn't sound. The loose material has to come off before a new surface goes on.
Can you just patch the peeling spots?
A small patch can work if the rest of the coating is sound. When peeling is spread across the court, it is better to remove what is failing and resurface the whole thing so it wears evenly.
Will it peel again?
A new surface laid on clean, sound material holds far better. If water is getting under the slab or the coating, we show you where so it can be dealt with too.
How far is Ogden for your crew?
Roughly 79 miles from Mapleton. Ogden courts are worked by the same Northern Utah crew that resurfaces in Layton, Kaysville and Farmington.
