Where the snow goes on a Logan court
Logan winters are long, and some families shovel the court to keep shooting through them. That raises a question nobody in St. George asks: where does the snow go once it is off the court?
If shoveled snow piles up on the high side, it melts back across the surface on the first warm day and refreezes overnight. Planning a spot for it on the downhill side, off the slab, lets meltwater leave the yard instead. The grading for the pad is set with that in mind, so water from the court and from the pile both run away from where people play.
The slab is where Cache Valley cold gets answered. Post-tension concrete has steel cables run through it and tightened after it cures, holding it in compression so the small cracks that freezing would widen stay closed. The color coat over it is Sports Master acrylic, with sand worked in so shoes grip even on a cold spring morning.
With Utah State's Aggies playing in the Spectrum, plenty of Logan kids want a real hoop at home, and an adjustable one lets the youngest share it. Logan is about 113 miles from our Mapleton base, the longest drive on our northern list, so we plan the estimate visit with you in advance.
