Finding shade for a Hurricane sport court
Below the Hurricane Cliffs, a July afternoon on an open court is no fun. Placement can help more than people think. On many lots, a court on the east side of the house falls into the building's shadow as the sun drops west, which makes late-afternoon play bearable sooner. Our first visit looks at how the sun crosses your yard before we pick a spot.
Color does the rest. Lighter Sports Master acrylic shades stay cooler underfoot than dark ones, and windscreens on the fence take the sting out of the glare. When the sun is finally down, Dominator LED lights take over.
Under all of it, the build is made for Hurricane's ground. The pad is dug out and graded so storm water leaves the court, with the sandy soil in mind, and the slab is post-tension concrete, steel cables inside it tightened after it cures so hairline cracks don't spread.
Lines for pickleball, basketball and volleyball can share the slab, each in its own color, with nets, an adjustable hoop and fencing to finish. Our Southern Utah crew makes the 22-mile trip over from Ivins to look at your lot, and that visit and the estimate cost nothing.

Questions
Asked in Hurricane
Where should a court go on a hot Hurricane lot?
Look for afternoon shade. A spot east of the house falls into its shadow as the sun moves west. We map the sun across your yard at the first visit.
Do light colors really stay cooler?
Yes. A pale surface reflects more sunlight than a dark one, so it heats up less. Compare a few schemes in our online court designer.
Are windscreens useful for glare?
They are. Windscreens on the court fence cut low-angle glare and wind, and they can carry your name or a logo.
How far is Hurricane from your Southern Utah crew?
