Mapleton is home for our Northern Utah crew, and its lots, many of them generous, sit under Maple Mountain with room for a court almost anywhere in the yard. With that much choice, the question becomes where the court should go, and for families with younger players the answer is often: where you can see it.
A court within view of the kitchen or the back patio tends to get used more, and parents can keep an eye on the game without standing outside. It also keeps the court close to the house's power for lights. The trade-off is noise and stray balls near windows, which a ball rebounder behind the hoop and the right hoop direction help with.
The build is close to home for us, but it is the same build every court gets: a walk of the site, excavation and grading so the slab drains away from the house, then post-tension concrete whose steel cables are stretched tight after curing to keep cracks closed. Sports Master acrylic sand-mix goes on top in your colors.
Pick the hoop for who plays: an in-ground adjustable hoop for mixed ages, a fixed regulation hoop for a dedicated shooter, a breakaway rim for anyone who dunks. With our yard right here in Mapleton, setting up a free estimate is easy.

Where should a court go on a big Mapleton lot?
Where you will use it. For families with younger kids that is often within sight of the kitchen or patio; for older players, farther back works fine.
Does a court close to the house change the grading?
It sets the direction. The pad is graded so water runs away from the house and off the far side of the court.
How do we protect windows from stray shots?
Face the hoop away from the house and add a ball rebounder behind it, so most misses stay on the court.
