A Washington court for mild winter days
Summer in Washington City is for early mornings, but from fall through spring the afternoons are mild and sunny, and that is when a lot of pickleball happens here. Some households split the year, arriving when the north turns cold. A backyard court fits that rhythm well.
Winter brings one catch: early sunsets. By late afternoon in December the light is going, just when the air is pleasant. Dominator LED court lights solve that, lighting the court evenly with a timer or remote so the game does not have to stop at dusk.
The build suits the desert. We walk the yard, plan the court into the existing landscape, and excavate and grade so storm water drains away. A post-tension slab follows, cables tensioned in it after it cures to hold small cracks shut, and Sports Master acrylic sand-mix in colors you choose with regulation lines on top.
