Tennis Court Resurfacing in Cedar City, UT

A Cedar City tennis court spends the winter under snow and hard freezes. Before the first spring game, a careful look tells you whether it just needs a cleaning or is ready for a resurfacing.

Opening a Cedar City court after winter

Among the towns our Southern Utah crew covers, Cedar City has the real winter, and a tennis court here comes out of it looking different from the court that went in. Once the snow is gone, walk it slowly. Look for new cracks and ones that have widened, puddles that sit after the melt, lifted or flaking coating, and lines that have dulled or chipped.

If all you find is dirt and a few fine cracks, a thorough cleaning and some crack repair may carry the court through another season. If the cracks have opened, the color has faded unevenly or the surface has lost its grip, it is time to resurface: a full wash, crack and low-spot repair, a base of acrylic resurfacer, then new color coats and regulation lines.

Timing matters at this elevation. Acrylic needs mild days and nights to cure, and Cedar City's cold mornings linger later than they do in St. George, so the coating season starts later here. Booking while the court is still under snow gives you more choice of dates.

The crew comes up I-15 from its base in Ivins, about 49 miles south of Cedar City, and estimates are free.

Supreme Custom Courts, and specifically Ola, we're wonderful. I called Supreme with what turned out to be a simple question on how to "fix" something on our Dominator hoop. About 10 minutes later Ola was at our house and two minutes later the problem was "fixed."

Questions

Asked in Cedar City

What should we look for on our Cedar City court after winter?

New or wider cracks, puddles that linger after the snowmelt, coating that has lifted or flaked, and lines that have chipped or dulled. Any of these is worth a closer look.

Does every court need resurfacing after a hard winter?

No. Often a court needs only cleaning and a few crack repairs. Resurfacing makes sense when cracks have opened, the color is uneven or the surface has lost its grip.

When does the coating season start in Cedar City?

Later than in St. George, once mornings stop freezing and acrylic can cure. Booking before the snow is gone gives you more choice of dates.

Which crew handles Cedar City courts?

Our Southern Utah crew, based in Ivins about 49 miles away, which plans Cedar City work around the later spring.
