Cold nights and big courts in Heber City
Heber Valley is a mountain basin, and on clear winter nights cold air settles into it and stays. A court in Heber City sees hard freezes for months, with sunny days in between that thaw the surface again. That freeze and thaw is what opens cracks, and on a large court, like the full tennis courts some Heber lots have room for, there is a lot of surface for cracks to start in.
Open ground brings wind, too, and wind carries dust and grit onto the court, where play grinds it into the texture. Over a few seasons the surface goes smooth and pale, and the lines lose their edge.
A resurface takes the court back to a sound, grippy surface. We clean it thoroughly, repair cracks and fill low spots, then build up layers of Sports Master acrylic with sand mixed in. Lines are measured and painted to regulation for tennis, pickleball, basketball or a combination, each in its own color if you like.

Why does our Heber City court crack every winter?
Heber Valley gets hard freezes night after night, with thaws in between. Water in small cracks freezes and expands, widening them each time. Repairing them during a resurface slows that down.
Is resurfacing a large court different from a small one?
The steps are the same, there is just more surface to clean, repair and coat. Large courts also have room for more lines, so tennis and pickleball can share one in different colors.
What makes the surface lose its grip?
Dust and grit blown onto the court get ground in by shoes, wearing down the sand texture. New acrylic with fresh sand brings the grip back.
