Keeping a Provo court in shape between resurfaces
Provo sits just 9 miles from our Northern Utah crew's home in Mapleton, which makes small, timely fixes easy to arrange. That makes it practical to treat a court's surface as something you look after over time, not something you wait to fail.
The surface wears in stages. First the color dulls and the lines soften, then hairline cracks appear, then those cracks widen as water gets in and freezes. Catching cracks at the hairline stage is worth doing: filled before winter, they stay small, and the coating around them lasts longer.
When the wear is general, with faded color, smooth spots and many cracks, it is time for the full resurface. The court is cleaned, repaired, and coated with fresh layers of Sports Master acrylic with sand for grip, then the lines are repainted. Done before the surface is worn through, a resurface is a lighter job than one that waited too long.
Between resurfaces, sweep the court, rinse it now and then, keep sprinklers and furniture legs off it, and let us know when you spot a new crack. The same crew also resurfaces courts in Orem, Springville and Spanish Fork.

Questions
Asked in Provo
How often does a Provo court need resurfacing?
It depends on sun, use and upkeep rather than a set number of years. Faded color, slick spots and spreading cracks are the signs it is due.
Is it worth fixing a single crack?
Yes. A crack filled while it is still small keeps water out, which keeps it from widening over the next winter and damaging the coating around it.
What wears a court out fastest?
Sun, standing water, grit under shoes and sprinklers that hit the surface every day. Dragging furniture and parking bikes on it don't help either.
Can your crew come look at our Provo court?
Yes, and quickly. Provo is just 9 miles up the road from Mapleton, and the estimate costs you nothing.
