One big Heber City slab for several sports
When a Heber City family has the ground, the most useful court is often a big one that does several things. Picture a tennis court with pickleball lines painted inside it in a second color, and a basketball key with a hoop at one end. On a lot with that kind of room, everyone in the family gets their game on the same slab.
Open ground also means open sky and wind. Heber Valley is wide, and a breeze across it can push a tennis ball around, so windscreens on the court fencing make a real difference here. They take the afternoon glare down a notch too.
Under it all is a pad we excavate and grade so it sheds water, and a post-tension slab with steel tendons pulled tight after it cures. At about 5,600 feet, Heber's nights stay cold well into spring, and that tension keeps the concrete together through every freeze.
