Court colors that live with Ivins red dust
Ivins is home base for our Southern Utah crew, set between Snow Canyon and the red cliffs. Anyone who lives here knows the dust that comes with the scenery: fine, red and everywhere after a windy day, including on a basketball court.
That dust is worth thinking about when you pick colors. On a very light or bright court, a red film shows the moment it settles; on a mid-tone court it hides until you sweep. Earthy reds, tans and muted greens sit easily against the cliffs, and a contrasting key keeps the lane easy to read. White lines stay crisp on all of them.
Grip matters too. Dust on any court makes it slicker, so a sweep or a rinse before play keeps Sports Master acrylic sand-mix doing its job. Windscreens on a fence can cut how much blows in.
Underneath, the pad is excavated and graded for the summer storms, and the slab is post-tension concrete, with steel cables tensioned after it cures. With the crew working out of Ivins, a free estimate here is a short trip, and so is any question once the court is built.

Questions
Asked in Ivins
What court colors hide red dust?
Mid-tones such as earthy red, tan or muted green show dust far less than very light or bright colors. A sweep still keeps the grip up.
Does dust make a court slippery?
It can. A quick sweep or rinse before play keeps the sand-mix surface gripping as it should.
Can windscreens keep dust off an Ivins court?
They cut how much blows in on windy days, and they cut glare too.
Is your Southern Utah crew really based in Ivins?
Yes. Ivins is home base, and the crew builds and resurfaces courts across Washington County and up to Cedar City.
