Pickleball Court Installation in Pleasant Grove, UT

Pleasant Grove earned the name City of Trees, and a shaded court is a pleasant one in July. Shade also means a court dries slowly after rain, so here the slope of the court matters more.

A shaded Pleasant Grove court that drains well

Many Pleasant Grove yards sit under mature trees, and a court in their shade stays cooler on a summer afternoon than one in open sun. The trade-off is drying time. Without direct sun, a puddle can linger long after a storm, and a damp patch on acrylic is slick.

So in a shady yard we pay extra attention to the fall of the court. The base is graded so water runs straight off rather than collecting, and where a yard sits low, subsurface drainage takes the runoff somewhere else. A court that sheds water quickly is ready to play sooner.

The slab itself is post-tension concrete, with steel cables tensioned inside after the pour so cracks stay narrow. On top is Sports Master acrylic sand-mix with regulation lines: a 20-by-44 pickleball court, kitchens marked 7 feet from the net. We place the court so its slab clears major roots.

Choose the colors, then add a permanent net, fencing and a bench in the shade. Pleasant Grove is a short run of about 19 miles for our Northern Utah crew, which works out of Mapleton. Ask for a free estimate and we will look at the trees, the shade and the low spots together.

Supreme Custom Courts, and specifically Ola, we're wonderful. I called Supreme with what turned out to be a simple question on how to "fix" something on our Dominator hoop. About 10 minutes later Ola was at our house and two minutes later the problem was "fixed."

Questions

Asked in Pleasant Grove

Is a shaded court a good idea?

It is pleasant in summer, as long as it drains well. Shade slows drying, so we grade the court to shed water quickly.

Why do puddles matter on a court?

Standing water makes the surface slick and leaves dirt behind as it dries. A good fall on the slab sends rain off before it can sit.

Can you build near big trees?

Yes. We place the slab clear of major roots and plan the drainage the trees' shade will call for.

Is Pleasant Grove within your area?

Yes. It sits close to our Northern Utah crew's base in Mapleton, an easy trip for site walks and the build.
