Court Resurfacing in Holladay, UT

Holladay's big trees keep a court cool, but they also drop leaves, sap and seeds on it, hold moisture in the shade and send roots under the edges. Resurfacing repairs that wear.

Resurfacing a court under Holladay's trees

Shade is the gift of a Holladay yard: a court tucked among its old trees stays cooler on a July afternoon. Over the years, though, trees leave their mark on an acrylic surface. Leaves and seed pods left lying stain the color, sap spots and bird droppings bake on, and shaded corners stay damp after rain and grow a green film that turns slick underfoot.

Roots are the other story. A large tree near the slab can lift an edge or crack a corner as it grows. Before resurfacing we look at where the trees are and how the slab has moved. Small cracks and lifted edges can often be repaired and blended, while a section pushed up badly may need more than a coating, and we will say so.

On the resurface itself, the court gets a deep clean to remove stains and any growth in the shade, then crack repair, then new Sports Master acrylic in layers with sand for traction and fresh lines. A mid-tone color hides leaf stains between cleanings better than a very light one.

A leaf blower once a week in fall keeps it looking that way. Holladay sits roughly 40 miles north of Mapleton. Our Northern Utah crew comes from there and also recoats Murray, Millcreek and Cottonwood Heights courts.

Supreme Custom Courts, and specifically Ola, we're wonderful. I called Supreme with what turned out to be a simple question on how to "fix" something on our Dominator hoop. About 10 minutes later Ola was at our house and two minutes later the problem was "fixed."

Questions

Asked in Holladay

Why is the shady end of our Holladay court slippery?

Shade keeps the surface damp longer, and a thin green film can grow there. A deep clean removes it, and fresh acrylic with sand restores grip. Clearing leaves often keeps it from coming back.

Can tree roots crack a court?

Yes. A large tree close to the slab can lift or crack an edge as it grows. We look at the trees and the slab at the estimate and tell you what a resurface can and can't fix.

Do leaf stains come out?

Many fade with cleaning, and the new color coats cover what is left. After that, clearing leaves before they sit through a rain keeps the court clean.

Is Holladay far for your crew?

No. Holladay is a drive of roughly 40 miles for the Northern Utah crew from Mapleton, which works in Murray, Millcreek and Cottonwood Heights on the same trips.
