Undoing old patch jobs on a Murray court
A court that has been around a while in Murray has usually been fixed by someone at some point. Cracks filled with caulk from the garage, a bag of patching mix smoothed over a low corner, a can of paint rolled over the faded lines. Those fixes helped for a season, but on an acrylic court they tend to show through: shiny strips where caulk sits proud of the surface, patches that crumble, paint that peels in sheets.
So a Murray resurface often begins with taking things off. Loose paint and failing coating are scraped away, soft patch material comes out, and old caulk is cut back so cracks can be cleaned to sound concrete and filled with material made for courts. Low areas are built up and feathered so they disappear under the finish.
Then the court is cleaned again and the new system goes down: Sports Master acrylic in layers, sand mixed in for traction, and lines painted to regulation for basketball, pickleball or both. The result looks and plays like one surface instead of a quilt of repairs.

Someone patched our Murray court with caulk. Is that a problem?
It can be. Caulk and general-purpose patching mixes don't bond or wear like court materials, so they show through a new coating. We cut them out and refill the cracks with court repair material first.
Can you paint over the old lines and colors?
Not on top of a coating that is peeling. Loose material comes off first, because new acrylic is only as sound as the layer it sits on.
Will the repairs be visible after resurfacing?
Repaired cracks and patched low spots are leveled and covered by the new coats, so they blend into the surface. A crack that keeps moving can show again later, and we will tell you if we see one.
