Wind, grit and a Draper tennis court
The wind that makes the Point of the Mountain famous with paragliders also blows across Draper's tennis courts. It carries fine sand and grit, and under tennis shoes that grit works like sandpaper on the acrylic. Over a few seasons the texture wears thin, the color dulls, and the court plays faster and slicker than it should.
Resurfacing starts with getting all of that grit off. We clean the court thoroughly, repair cracks, and fill the low spots where water and dirt settle, then build the surface back up with acrylic resurfacer and color coats that carry a fresh texture. New regulation lines finish it.
Two additions are worth a look here. Windscreens on the fence cut the wind and the glare, and can carry your name or logo. And if anyone in the house has taken up pickleball, lines in a second color let the court serve both games.
Up near SunCrest, spring arrives later and fall ends sooner, so the window for coating is narrower than on the valley floor. We plan around it. Our Northern Utah crew is based in Mapleton, about 32 miles south, and estimates are free.

Questions
Asked in Draper
Why does our Draper court feel faster and slicker than it used to?
The texture in the acrylic has worn down, often from wind-blown grit under players' shoes. A resurfacing applies new coats with fresh texture, which slows the ball and gives back grip.
Do windscreens help on a windy court?
They cut the wind at court level and the glare on sunny days, and they keep some blowing dirt off the surface. They can be printed with your name or logo.
Is the coating season shorter at SunCrest?
It is. Higher up, cold nights last longer into spring and return sooner in fall, and acrylic needs moderate temperatures to cure. We schedule SunCrest courts inside that window.
Do you also resurface courts lower in Draper?
Yes, all over Draper and in Sandy, South Jordan and Riverton next door. The steps are the same; only the timing and the cleanup change.
