Tennis Court Resurfacing in Sandy, UT

On Sandy's east-side slopes, rain and snowmelt from the yard above often cross a tennis court on their way downhill. Resurfacing repairs what that water has done and leaves a clean, true surface.

When a Sandy hillside sends water across your court

A tennis court has to be flat, but in Sandy the yard around it rarely is. On the slopes toward the Wasatch, snowmelt and storm water come down from above and cross the court on their way to the street. They bring dirt and leaves along, and the edge of the court that takes the flow is usually where the first cracks and stains appear.

When we resurface a court like that, the work starts with a hard cleaning, because acrylic will not bond well to a dirty surface. Then the cracks are repaired, the low areas that trap water are filled, and the court gets acrylic resurfacer, color coats and new lines. If water is still being sent across the court from the slope, we will show you where it comes from, so it can be turned aside before the new color goes down.

Shade is the other Sandy story. Courts tucked against the hillside see the morning sun late, and corners that stay damp can grow a green film. A thorough cleaning removes it, and a little more sun or air on those corners keeps it from coming back.

Our Northern Utah crew comes from Mapleton, about 34 miles away, and also works in Draper and Cottonwood Heights next door. Estimates are free.

Supreme Custom Courts, and specifically Ola, we're wonderful. I called Supreme with what turned out to be a simple question on how to "fix" something on our Dominator hoop. About 10 minutes later Ola was at our house and two minutes later the problem was "fixed."

Questions

Asked in Sandy

Why is one edge of our Sandy court always cracked and dirty?

It is often the side that takes runoff from the slope above. Water carries soil across it and works into the cracks. We repair that edge with the rest of the court, and we can point out where the water could be redirected.

What is the green film in the shady corner?

Usually mildew or algae growing where the surface stays damp. It makes the court slippery. We clean it off before resurfacing, and more sun or air on that corner helps keep it away.

Does the court have to be dry before you coat it?

Yes, and warm enough. Acrylic coatings need a dry surface and moderate temperatures to cure, which is why we resurface in spring and fall.

Can you change our court colors when you resurface it?

Yes. Resurfacing is the easiest time to change colors. Pick a court and border color, and we can add a painted logo or pickleball lines in a contrasting shade.
