Tennis Court Resurfacing in Cottonwood Heights, UT
Cottonwood Heights courts spend the winter under snow from the canyons. When it melts, the cracks, scrapes and flat color it leaves behind are exactly what a spring resurfacing is for.

After the snow leaves a Cottonwood Heights court
Few places in the valley get winter the way Cottonwood Heights does, with Big and Little Cottonwood Canyons right overhead. A backyard tennis court here can sit under snow for weeks at a time, and the way the snow comes off matters. Metal shovel edges and plow blades scrape the acrylic, and a pile left in one corner keeps that corner wet long after the rest of the court is dry.
By spring the signs are easy to read: scuffed lines, bare streaks where something was dragged, cracks that opened with the freezes, and color that has gone flat. Resurfacing addresses all of it. We clean the court, repair the cracks and scrapes, fill the low areas, then apply acrylic resurfacer and new color coats, and paint fresh lines.
Timing is the local catch. Acrylic needs moderate temperatures to cure, and up near the canyon mouths the nights stay cold later into spring than they do down in the valley. We watch the forecast and book Cottonwood Heights courts for when the weather has truly turned, often later in spring or early in fall.
If you keep the court clear in winter, a plastic shovel or a broom treats the surface far more kindly. Our Northern Utah crew is based in Mapleton, about 37 miles away, and estimates are free.

Questions
Asked in Cottonwood Heights
Is it bad to shovel snow off our Cottonwood Heights court?
Clearing it is fine. Metal shovel edges and plow blades are what do the damage, scraping the acrylic. A plastic shovel or a broom, used gently, keeps the surface intact.
Why do you schedule later in spring here?
Acrylic coatings need moderate temperatures to cure, and cold nights linger near the canyons. Waiting until the weather has settled gives the new surface a better start.
Can scrape marks be repaired, or does the whole court need doing?
Shallow scrapes are filled and blended during a resurfacing. On their own they can be touched up, but the new color will show against the old until the court is recoated.
Would windscreens help with canyon breezes?
They cut the wind at court level and the glare on bright days, and they can carry your name or logo. They also give a steadier backdrop for tracking the ball.
