Skip the drive: a pickleball court in Eagle Mountain

Eagle Mountain spreads across a wide stretch of hills west of Utah Lake. That space is part of its appeal, but it means a drive for most things, including a game of pickleball. A court at home removes the drive and the wait, and puts the game where you live.

Open ground shapes a few details. Dust is part of life out here, so it pays to have a hose bib within reach of the court; a rinse every so often keeps the acrylic clean and grippy. A permanent net on sleeve-set posts stays put in a breeze, and chain-link fencing keeps balls from rolling off into the sagebrush.

We start with a site walk, then excavate and grade a pad that sheds water, and pour a post-tension slab whose cables are drawn tight after curing so minor cracks stay minor. Regulation pickleball lines go on Sports Master acrylic sand-mix, 20 by 44 feet, with a kitchen in its own color. Lighter colors stay cooler under a big open sky.

To reach Eagle Mountain, our Northern Utah crew drives about 27 miles around the north end of Utah Lake from Mapleton. Ask for a free estimate and we will walk the lot with you.

Supreme Custom Courts, and specifically Ola, we're wonderful. I called Supreme with what turned out to be a simple question on how to "fix" something on our Dominator hoop. About 10 minutes later Ola was at our house and two minutes later the problem was "fixed."

Questions

Asked in Eagle Mountain

Why build a court at home in Eagle Mountain?

Because the nearest open public court can be a drive away. At home you play when you want, for as long as you want.

How do we keep dust off the court?

A hose rinse now and then does it. Plan a hose bib near the court, and the acrylic stays clean and grippy.

Will the net blow over on open ground?

Not a permanent one. Its posts sit in sleeves cast into the concrete, so the wind has nothing to tip. Keep a portable net for sheltered spots.

Do you cover the west side of Utah Lake?

Yes. Eagle Mountain and Saratoga Springs are both in our Northern Utah crew's area, a drive of about 27 miles from Mapleton.
