A Murray pickleball court that drains on flat ground
Much of Murray lies on the valley floor, where backyards behind mid-century ranch homes run fairly level from the patio to the back fence. For a pickleball court that is a head start, because there is little earth to move. It also hides the one thing a flat lot does badly: draining.
Water on a court should leave by the shortest route, and on level ground nothing pushes it. So the slope is built in. We grade the base with a gentle fall toward one side, too slight to notice in a game but enough to carry rain and snowmelt off, and we decide at the site walk where that water should end up: a lawn, a planting bed, or a drain.
The pad gets a post-tension concrete slab, its steel cables drawn tight after the pour so small cracks stay small. The playing surface is Sports Master acrylic sand-mix, with regulation lines on a 20-by-44 court and the kitchen in whatever color you like.

Our Murray yard is flat. Is drainage still a concern?
Yes, more than people expect. On level ground water has no reason to move, so we grade a gentle fall into the base and plan where the runoff ends up.
Will we feel the slope when we play?
No. The fall is slight, just enough to carry rain and snowmelt off the surface. The lines are painted to regulation on top.
What does a post-tension slab actually do?
Steel cables run through the concrete and are tightened after it cures. That squeeze keeps the small cracks every slab gets from spreading across the court.
Can we start with just the court and add lights later?
You can. If lights are likely, tell us at the estimate so power can be planned before the yard is finished; Dominator LED lights can then go in whenever you are ready.
