Clear air above a Holladay hoop
Holladay's mature trees are a big part of why its yards feel the way they do, but basketball needs open air. A high-arcing jump shot or a long rebound off the back of the rim goes well above the backboard, and a low branch over the key turns good shots into misses.
So the hoop end of the court should sit where nothing hangs above it. Branches over the far end matter less, and some shade there is welcome on a July afternoon. We look at the canopy with you and set the court so the space around the hoop is clear, rather than taking out trees that make the yard.
Trees drop leaves, seeds and twigs, so a court under the canopy needs a sweep or a rinse more often than one in the open. That is easy upkeep on Sports Master acrylic sand-mix, which keeps its grip once it is clean.
Roots matter below the slab too, so the site walk notes where the big trees stand. The pad is excavated and graded to drain, then poured as a post-tension slab whose stressed steel cables keep cracks closed. Holladay sits about 40 miles from Mapleton, home of our northern crew, and a free estimate is the place to start.

Great work! Friendly and easy to work with. I would definitely recommend them!
Supreme Custom Courts, and specifically Ola, we're wonderful. I called Supreme with what turned out to be a simple question on how to "fix" something on our Dominator hoop. About 10 minutes later Ola was at our house and two minutes later the problem was "fixed."

Questions
Asked in Holladay
How much open space does a hoop need above it?
More than the backboard. Shots and rebounds arc well above the rim, so keep branches clear of the space over the key and the hoop.
Do we have to remove trees to fit a Holladay court?
Usually not. We place the court so the hoop end is under open sky and let the trees shade the other end or the sides.
Will leaves hurt the court surface?
They won't hurt the slab, but a court under trees needs sweeping or rinsing more often to stay clean and grippy.
Can tree roots affect the slab?
Big roots near the court are part of the site walk. We plan the pad and its edges around them before anything is dug.
