Two games on one Murray slab
Murray Park has ballfields, a pool and room to spread out. A backyard rarely does, so a Murray sport court is mostly an exercise in sharing. One layout that works well is a pickleball court with a basketball key painted over one end, so a single rectangle of concrete carries both games. Lines in two contrasting colors keep each one clear to the eye.
Planning starts with measuring what's really there: fences, trees, the shed, the gas meter, the slope toward the street. We'd rather move the court a few feet on paper than find a sprinkler main with an excavator. Once the spot is set, the ground is dug and graded to shed water and a post-tension slab is poured, its internal cables tightened after curing so the concrete stays compressed.
The surface is Sports Master acrylic sand-mix. On a compact court, color does a lot of work: a lighter playing field with a darker border can make a small slab look bigger from the house.
Add a permanent pickleball net or a portable one, an adjustable hoop, chain-link fencing along the property line, and LED lights if you play after work. Murray is about 41 miles up the freeway from Mapleton, home of our Northern Utah crew, and we price courts there for free.

Can pickleball and basketball fit on one small Murray court?
Yes. A basketball key can be painted over one end of a pickleball court, with each game's lines in its own color. A portable net keeps the slab open when someone wants to shoot.
What should I measure before calling?
The open space you'd give up, the distance to fences and trees, and anything underground you know about, like sprinkler lines. We measure again at the free estimate, but your numbers help us bring the right ideas.
Do lights make sense on a small court?
Yes, if your games happen after work. Dominator LED lights can be switched with a remote or set on a timer that shuts them off at an hour you pick.
