Keeping the ball on a sloped Sandy court
On a lot in east Sandy, a missed shot doesn't just bounce off the court. It finds the low side of the yard and keeps going, sometimes into the neighbor's garden or the street below. Planning for the stray ball is part of planning a basketball court here.
The court itself has to play level, so the first work is the pad. We excavate into the high side, grade the pad with only a gentle fall for drainage, and pour a post-tension concrete slab whose steel cables are tightened after it cures. Where the yard drops away, the downhill edge of the slab is planned together with the grading.
Then the ball. Chain-link court fencing on the low side, or around the whole court, keeps rebounds in play. A ball rebounder behind the hoop returns missed shots to a player practicing alone, which saves a lot of walking on a hillside. Pole and backboard pads protect anyone driving hard to the basket.
Up top goes Sports Master acrylic, gritty with sand for footing, then the key, arc and free-throw line in paint that stands out against it. Sandy sits some 34 miles up the freeway from our Mapleton base, and we come out to walk the slope with you for a free estimate.

Supreme Custom Courts, and specifically Ola, we're wonderful. I called Supreme with what turned out to be a simple question on how to "fix" something on our Dominator hoop. About 10 minutes later Ola was at our house and two minutes later the problem was "fixed."

Questions
Asked in Sandy
How do you keep basketballs from rolling down a sloped Sandy yard?
Fencing on the low side, or all the way around the court, keeps the ball in play. A ball rebounder behind the hoop sends missed shots back to the shooter.
Does a slope make a basketball court more work to build?
It adds grading. The pad is cut and graded level, with only a slight fall for drainage, before the post-tension slab is poured.
What does a ball rebounder do?
It catches shots that miss and sends the ball back out, so one player can practice without chasing rebounds. It ships to you and sets up behind the hoop.
Can the fence carry windscreens?
Yes. Windscreens attach to the fencing to cut wind and glare, and they can carry your logo or family name.
